Jammin' Against The Darkness

COLUMBUS Jammin' Against The Darkness hosted by NBA
allstar and Ohio State Alumnus Michael Redd is coming
August 20th to the Value City Arena Schottenstein Center on
the campus of Ohio State University. Jammin' brings a
unique combination of top Christian NBA players,
Professional BMX and skaters, Grammy award winning
music and a message of hope by Jammin cofounder Steve
Jamison.
Billed as "One Dynamic Night of Hope," the event will feature
NBA style basketball demonstrations and personal
testimonies from top Christian players. Michael Redd leads a
team that includes; Allan Houston of the New York Knicks,
Luke Ridnour of the Seattle Sonics, Dan Dickau of the New
Orleans Hornets, Jake Voshukl of the Phoenix Suns, Eric
Strickland of the Milwaukee Bucks, Lawrence Funderburke of
the Chicago Bulls, Eric Snow of the Cleveland Cavaliers and
Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic has expressed interest
in being apart of the team. Other participating athletes
include professional BMX rlders John Greer, Aaron Johnson
and Kevin Bickle who will be joined by Tim Byrne who is
considered one of the top "flatland freestyle" skateboarders
in the world. Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel will
make a special guest appearance.

Darkness, the impact is awesome" stated two time NBA
allstar Allan Houston who Joined Jammin' cofounder Steve
Jamison to host two Jammin' events at Madison Square
Garden in New York City. "Jammin is an event for people of
all ages, but especially for youth and young adults. People
will enjoy an action packed evening and will come away with
inspiration and a sense of new hope for their lives" stated
Steve Jamison. Hundreds of local churches are involved with
the program which is co chaired by two leading Columbus
pastors, Bishop Timothy J. Clarke the senior pastor of First
Church of God and Pastor Rich Nathan the senior pastor of
Vineyard Church Columbus.
The main event will be kicked off by one of Christian music's
rising stars John Reuben who is from Columbus, Ohio.
Grammy award winning music will be presented by Fred
Hammond, one of Gospel music's top draws. Following a
dynamic evening program the event will culminate with one
of Christian music's most recognized and renowned bands
the Newsboys.
While the main event begins at 7 pm on Saturday, August
20, in the Value City Arena, there will be associated events
throughout the day as part of "JAMFEST" on the grounds
surrounding the Value City Arena. A major three on three
tournament will begin at 8 am; two live sound stages will
feature top local talent throughout the day with a variety of
music. The Cleveland Cavalier's caravan, a popular
interactive area will also be a part of the tournament area. At
noon the main sound stage will feature presentations from
Secretary of State Ken Blackwell and other local dignities.
NBA players will share from the stage as well as other
prominent athletes. Jamfest will feature a slam dunk contest,
BMX and skate area with professional demonstrations and
free clinic for local youth. A special children's area will
include inflatable games, face painting and a variety of
children's activities. Jamfest as a prelude to the main event
is also all about bringing hope to people's lives. Jamfest falls
in line with Jammin's visions to bring hope to people's lives
and will this year feature a huge '*back to school" community
fair with free school supplies for thousands of youth.
Supplies will be given out as long as they last. A number of
complimentary health services will be offered to the entire
community through the Community Health fair.
Three on three basketball teams are just $79.00 and include
free entrance to the main Jammin' event. Teams may

events held throughout the day are free of charge and
open for all.
Volunteers are needed and can register on line or by calling
the local office.
Jammin' Against The Darkness started in 1993 by Pastor
Steve Jamison and former NBA
player David Wood, who played on seven NBA teams. Since
the first Jammin event held
in San Antonio, Texas the ministry has filled arenas across
America including the two events in Washington, DC, The
Portland Rose Garden, Safeco Field and Key Arena in
Seattle, Washington, The Roberto Clemente Arena in San
Juan,, Puerto Rico, and two events in Madison Square
Garden in New York City. The 2002 event in New York's
Madison Square Garden was the one year anniversary of the
9/11 Twin Towers tragedy, and the "Tribute to Grace and
Hope" was attended by a sellout crowd and broadcast live
via satellite TV to millions of people around the world.
Admission for Jammin' main event inside the Schottenstein
Center are only $ 10.00 and tickets may be secured with no

Jamison notes that if Jammin' fills the Value City Arena in a
concert configuration at $10 it will provide approximately 60%
of the projected expenses. The remaining funds are being
raised from sponsors, local churches and individual
contributions.

people's lives. The athletes and hundreds of volunteers will
give of their time to create this special opportunity for people
to come together for entertainment, inspiration and hope"
